According to the recommendations established by the Endocrine Society, testosterone replacement therapy should simply be given to males that have hypogonadism or perhaps drastically low levels of testosterone. In order to find out whether you're in need of this procedure, your testosterone levels must be measured by having a blood test. It is strongly recommended to have this particular test done more often than once, as testosterone levels fluctuate during the day.
But, in one study tracking 11 million males, it was found that twenty five percent of participants that have been provided hormone replacement therapy did not have their amounts tested prior to getting the prescription. In the seventy five percent that got the treatment, there was no indication regarding just how a lot of the men were truly lacking in testosterone.
The study even discovered that testosterone therapy increased three-fold. Apart from being clinically determined to have hypogonadism, about one third of males given with the treatment was identified as having "fatigue." It had also been determined by using data from 2011 which males in their 40s were several of the best users.
Mixed Views of Testosterone Replacement Therapy
While testosterone replacement therapy is appropriate for men who have hypogonadism, there are diverse views about the process.
There's evidence suggesting that it can also have some unwanted side effects, specifically to males who are not actually testosterone-deficient:
